API Thrills on Smashing Pumpkins Tour

On Halloween, we would be remiss not to mention the current Smashing Pumpkins Shiny and Oh So Bright tour, on which frontman Billy Corgan runs his vocal mic through an API 3124 preamp.

In addition to the 3124, Front of House Engineer Kevin Lemoine took a largely analog approach when it came to the band's sound on their 2018 tour. "Most bands' fans are so familiar with the source material that you want to present it as closely as possible to what they're used to hearing. That was one reason for analog here," says Lemoine. "All of the material performed for this show was recorded analog, and we used a lot of the same microphones from those early recordings as well."

We have to say, having our gear on tour with the Smashing Pumpkins is a Siamese Dream come true. Don't stay out too late trick-or-treating Tonight, Tonight!
